In Memory of our Founder
Janet Stanley Reid
The members of the Brandywine Rug Hooking Guild are deeply saddened by the passing of its founder, Janet Reid on August 31, 2019. Anyone who knew Janet will know she was a passionate rug hooker. She turned her passion into what many of us now call The Brandywine Rug Hooking Guild. The guild was established as ATHA chapter 83 in 2001. During her first term as guild president she expressed the following in her message to the guild.
"I love to hook. I love to create. I love wool. I love color. I love to teach hooking. I love to get together with all my hooking friends. I love to share new information and ideas. I love to see what other people are creating. I'm sure that many of you feel the same way I feel about hooking and creating things. There is some inner drive to do hand work and a wonderful joy in seeing a completed project. I am so pleased that our guild has grown so quickly. We have many exciting things planned for the near future. Be sure to come to the meetings so you won't miss anything. Come and share your passion for rug hooking." - Janet Please enjoy the slide show below of a few of Janet's rugs. We hope that you will find Janet's message, her enthusiasm and her rugs inspirational. She would want nothing less than for all of us to keep on hooking, share what we know and generate inspiration and appreciation for rug hooking. |
